Sergey Alekhin is an experienced arbitration lawyer currently serving as Partner at ELWI. Admitted to practice in both France and Russia, Sergey’s work primarily focuses on international commercial and investment arbitration, with a particular emphasis on the post-Soviet region. He has represented clients in proceedings before major arbitration centers worldwide, including the ICC, ICSID, and LCIA, as well as in ad hoc arbitrations, such as those conducted under the UNCITRAL Rules.

In addition to his counsel work, Sergey also serves as an arbitrator. He has been appointed as both co-arbitrator and sole arbitrator in ad hoc proceedings and arbitrations administered by the Russian Arbitration Centre (RAC) at the Russian Institute of Modern Arbitration and the Arbitration Center at the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP).

Sergey holds a double Master’s degree in Law and Economic Globalization from Sciences Po Paris and the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne. He also has a Master’s degree in Law from the Russian Academy of State Service and a Specialist Degree in International Relations from Voronezh State University (Russia). A frequent speaker and writer on topics related to international arbitration, Sergey was ranked among the Top 10 Young Arbitration Practitioners by the Russian Arbitration Association’s Under-40 division in 2018, 2019, and 2021. In 2022, he was appointed to the ICSID panel of arbitrators by the Kyrgyz Republic and is recognized as a “Future Leader” by Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration for 2023 and 2024.
